Meaning 1

Instruction to guess the interesting information that I know or introduce exciting information

Context 1

“Guess what!”
“What?”
“My sister’s having a baby!”
“Really?  That’s great!”

Meaning 2

(Same as Meaning 1) - both used when we speak English only

Context 2

“Guess what!”
“What?”
“This student in my class is also an actor!  He’s been on TV!”
“Really?  On what show?”
“I’m not sure but like, well known shows, like Home & Away and stuff”
(Learn English tip: ‘well known’ means that most people know it)

Meaning 1

Exactly accurate time - not late (when we speak English)

Context 1

“This is a very important meeting for us, I expect everyone there at 9.30 sharp, alright?”

Meaning 2

clever, smart, learn quickly

Context 2

“The new girl Gemma’s very sharp, she picked up our new system straight away, now she’s even showing me!”
(Learn English, tip: ‘picked up’ means that she learned and understood)
